saw the options available: 1-Get the jspec units -Upside being you get OEM quality units, perfect output, excellent beam coverage, uniformity in light output, and oem reliability, and it requires little to no work on your part aside from installing the assemblies themselves. Downside being the ridiculous pricetag Pretty much no leeway on this option. You are in for 1600 bucks. I have never seen a used set up for sale. 2--Buy a set of modern HID projectors from some other car headlight assembly, along with some ballasts, bulbs, etc, and retrofit them into Z32 headlights DIY -Upside being you spend half the cash or less, for similar performance. Downside being you have to DIY, so depending on your DIY prowess this downside can be great or small, you run the risk of fucking up a set of headlights during the crack-apart/dremel/install/epoxy/re-seal process, or you get all that part right but the light turn out to have issues afterwards, ie fogging up, require lots of adjustment to get beam pointed correctly, epoxy cracks or comes loose a year or two down the road after extreme temps and road conditions, etc etc etc. A lot of "what if's" for having still spend several hundred bucks and several hours of work IMHO. This option has various options depending on the amount of work you are willing to do & the amount of money you want to spend. You can go with USDM or JDM headlight assemblies, and I have seen 2 different projectors used that I can remember off-hand and I think maybe a 3rd one has even been tried by members here. IIRC there is the E-46 BMW projector, the TSX projector, and the S2000 projector that have all been proven to be "doable". 3-Buy a "retro-fit" bulb & ballast kit for the existing Z32 headlight assembly -Upside, they can be cheap...like less than $100....and some have proven reliable long-term, plus they are plug-and-play no asspain required. Down-side, the performance, while maybe better than stock halogen, is absolutely pathetic compared to option 1 and a successful execution of option 2.....there is no comparison. This is like Single A Baseball vs the Major Leagues. If you can't tell the difference you are either a retard or have never watched any baseball before in your life. As for this one, there are all kinds of arguements over which brand is recommended. I personally view it this way.....even the most expensive version of this option looks like shit compared to option 1 & 2, so why spend beyond the minimum to get a set that functions properly? I mean, so long as the bulb doesnt fall out of the socket, the ballasts actually cut on and last for more than 100 hrs, and the connectors maintain proper connections, I see zero reason to get at all brand conscience. I bought DDM ballasts (my bulbs were fine, and for some reason epoxied into the sockets) and thus far they work with the old bosch/phillips kit that came on the car when I bought it years ago. There are others who have had bad experiences in the past with their stuff, which is standard chinese low-cost ebay stock. Go with whatever you feel inspired to have the most trust in, I suppose.
